What does President Barack Obama, Ashton Kutcher, and Coca-Cola have in common?

Along with millions of people identifying with their Online Brand, all of the above-mentioned brands have custom Application Tabs on their Facebook Fan Pages. Most of these types of tabs are created using Static FBML. Essentially it allows a brand to customize their Facebook Fan Page and harness the core social networking capabilities of Facebook. Many businesses, including some of our clients, utilize Static FBML enabled Facebook Pages.

On August 23rd, the maximum pixel width of the Page will reduce from 760 to 520 (Facebook Developer's Blog). If your page is currently utilizing a maximum width of 760 pixels, then it will look distorted next week. Administrators have a head start to view these changes, but Fans will continue to see the undistorted 760 pixel layout until August 23rd, 2010.

The best way to fix the issue is to reduce your image sizes and re-code the page using 520 pixels as your maximum width.

Coca-Cola appears to have already adjusted their maximum width size.

We are currently modifying the pages of our clients. This is especially critical for businesses that actually sell items through their customized Facebook Page.
